Not all laws that are made makes sense... Sometimes, laws are made for selfish reasons...
If all laws were just, fair, equal and sensible, MRO and MAP would not exist... There is no need for it...
Same with the US... There wouldn't be groups fighting against, sorry for the term, stupid legislation...
Just because some people choose to disregard or go against some laws does not justify the judgement of their character... Let's not generalize people as they have their own beliefs and opinions about things... And again, some laws are just plain stupid or some are made to cover up for the real problem or the source of the problem...
Understand the word profiling? That is very common here as people are profiled because of their choice, opinion and say in the matter... It's just like the politicians and enforcement who think they know better to pass the burden on the road user for their own shortcomings...
Back to the helmet law, let me point out my position in the matter...
1. I am in favor of mandating it simply because we lack the education and proper issuance of licenses...
2. People need to exercise safety and the best way is to lead by example as most people who lack riding and driving education know less...
3. Until the government and enforcement get their act straight, this is the most sensible, not the brightest, but sensible solution available to us...
4. Other factors should be considered such as, aggressive drivers who know less than the riders, road hazards such as potholes and debris, absent minded pedestrians, and other riders who only know so much...
Overall, we are not in the position to allow everybody to run around head naked because of the obvious issues... Nor are we in the position to judge everybody just because of some bad apples... you can pass judgement on who you talk to, but not on people who we don't know completely...
It just sounds like a politician who thinks he knows whats best...
Sorry, but ever since we started MRO, I have lost my faith in most of them... Their attitude and lack of sensibility gives MRO more reason to watch out for stupid legislation that comes out on a regular basis...
